There are many reasons to come to the southernmost city in the US, but one of the best reasons is for the freshest seafood in the nation. Come to the Keys this January and kick off Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend at the annual Key West Seafood Festival. This mouth-watering event brings families, friends and tourists together in a fun environment to sample the local catch by the fisherman of the community. In hopes of raising money for the Florida Keys Commercial Fishermen's Association, the Key West Seafood Festival offers quite the menu at reasonable prices. Visitors can delight in options such as fresh lobster, fried fish, stone crabs, Key West shrimp, smoked fish dip, lobster bisque, conch and clam chowder, conch ceviche, and the crowd pleaser, conch fritters. Taking place in Bayview Park Saturday and Sunday, January 14 - 15, 2017 from 11 am - 8 pm, and Sunday from 11 am - 5 pm enjoy plenty of fresh seafood, live music from local bands and cocktail stations serving up beers, wine, margaritas, rumritas, and rumrunners. Visitors will be able to purchase Estella's Famous Flan, Nitia, and Key Lime Pie as well for those with a sweet tooth. They Seafood Festival has a $5 cover charge per person, children under 12 are admitted free. Take the kids to the "Kid's Fun Zone" featuring a giant bounce house, rock climbing wall, giant slide and plenty of fun activities for all ages.
